These Baked Green Plantain Chips makes a great snack. Crunchy, salty and lower in calories than store-bought. These can also be made using yellow plantains for a more sweeter taste. Plantains are good sources of potassium, magnesium, vitamin A and vitamin K.
On WW (formerly Weight watchers) purple plan, they are 0 smartpoints per serving and 3 smartpoints on blue and green plans. Baking these lower the calories and smartpoints rather than deep-frying.
You can make different flavors by adding chili powder, lime, red pepper flakes, cinnamon etc. It is best to serve these a couple minutes after coming out of the oven to keep its crispiness.

Baked Green Plantain Chips
Easy Baked Plantain Chips that makes a great salty snack. Low in calories and WW smartpoints.
Ingredients
- 1 medium-large green plantain
- 3/4 tsp kosher salt
- 3/4 tsp garlic powder
- Pam spray
Directions
- Step 1 Set oven to 400 degrees
- Step 2 Peel and slice plantain using a mandolin, about 1/8 inch slices.
- Step 3 Place slices on a large baking sheet without overlapping.
- Step 4 Season both sides with salt and garlic powder.
- Step 5 Bake for 17 minutes or until edges starts turning light brown. Cool for 5 minutes and serve right away.
