Air Fryer Roasted Whole Chicken

Air Fryer Roasted Whole Chicken

This EASY Air Fryer Roasted Whole Chicken recipe has the most crispy skin and juicy meat! Its flavorful and goes well with pretty much any side dish!

To make this flavorful chicken I used a 5.75 lb. chicken. You can use smaller as well. Whether you choose to wash your chicken or not be sure to pat dry well with paper towels as it gives the skin that crispiness. Using a bunch of dried herbs flavors this bird well. No oil is required in this Air Fryer Whole Chicken recipe which makes it healthier. Be sure to get that dry rub mixture all over especially under the skin!.

Optional: You can tie the chicken legs together with Butcher’s twine.

I used a 5.5qt air fryer which fit the chicken perfectly. You can find the air fryer I use here . It washes well in the dishwasher and washes easily by hand since nothing really sticks to it. In this air fryer it took about 1 hour and 10 minutes to cook. Time will vary depending on the size of the bird. Always check with a meat thermometer for doneness.

Ingredients

Method

Start by patting chicken with paper towels to soak up all the liquid. A dry skin equals a crispy skin.
Use the paper towel to help wipe out the yellow feather (if it bothers you). A dry paper towel does this job well.
In a small bowl combine, salt, black pepper, dried cilantro, dried dill, dried basil, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Rub all over chicken , inside where the giblets were and under the skin.
I used green onions, lemon and chili peppers to stuff chicken and for added flavor. Preheat air fryer on 325 degrees for 3 minutes.
Place chicken in the air fryer breast side down. Cook for 45 minutes then flip over and cook for another 20 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees F on the thickest part of the chicken.
Crispy perfect skin!
